Christmas season is almost upon us! It’s a busy time of year at the studio, with ballet exams coming up shortly, our annual Christmas open house and parents viewing week.

Parent Viewing Week

This year our parent viewing week will be held from Monday, December 5th to Saturday, December 10th. During this week, parents are welcome to watch their child’s class and see how they are progressing!

However, please note that this is still a regular class for students. Our space is limited, especially in larger classes, and we would like to keep any disruption to a minimum. This viewing week is for immediate family only. We ask that students do not bring any friends and that alternate arrangements are made for any siblings. Additionally, due to safety concerns, we cannot allow photos or videos to be taken during the class. The instructor will allow a few minutes at the end of the class if you would like to take pictures of your child.

Students in our Waiting Room

Just a quick reminder that students under the age of 8 are not to be left unattended in our lobby. Please be sure you are waiting with your child until they enter the classroom and are coming into the studio to pick them up. Diamond Dance Centre is not responsible for children left unattended in our waiting room and we do not provide supervision.

DDC Annual Christmas Party

This year our annual Christmas party/open house will be held on Sunday, December 11^th at the studio. Students and parents are welcome to drop in at the studio between 1-4pm. Refreshments and snacks will be served, and we invite all of our students to dress in red and green.

This year we will again be having our gift basket raffle. The baskets will be on display at the studio towards the end of November, and tickets will be available at the front desk. Profits from the gift basket go towards our Christmas party and towards toys for the Salvation Army. The draw for the baskets will be done at the Christmas party.

We will again be setting up the Christmas tree in our lobby, and collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army. Once our tree is up at the end of the month, toys can be left underneath it. Let’s see if we can collect more than last year!

Costume Fees

A reminder that recital costume fees are due on or before December 15, 2011. This fee is $75.00 per costume. Costumes for our year-end recital cannot be ordered until this fee is paid! Thanks!

Pizza and Gift Card Fundraiser

This year DDC’s competitive team is doing two fundraisers to help offset the costs of their competitions. The will be selling cards from New Orleans Pizza and a variety of different gift cards. These can make great Christmas gifts! More information about these fundraisers can be found on the bulletin board in the studio.

Ingersoll Harvest Fest!

The Ingersoll Harvest Fest is this weekend! DDC will be participating in all the festivities this year!

We will have a booth set up in Centennial Park this Sunday, August 28th. We will have registration info available, new DDC tees and sweats for sale, and we will be accepting registrations! Also, the DDC dancers will be performing in Centennial Park at 1pm Sunday afternoon! Come out to support our dancers, and participate in our demonstration!

If you are a current DDC dancer aged 6 and up, or a competitive student, and would like to participate in our Sunday performance, we will be having a rehearsal this coming Saturday from 10am-2pm at the studio. Please contact the studio to reserve your spot.

DDC Summer Dance Intensive

Come on out for our summer dance intensive! This intensive is for students hoping to join our competitive team in the fall, and also for any other serious or advanced dance students. Please call the studio to determine class placement.

We are excited to announce our teachers for the dance intensive! Jamie Stuyt, owner and artistic director of DDC, Sue Wiseman, ballet and pilates instructor, Denise Fung, the newest member of our dance family, and Ashley Watts, guest teacher for lyrical and hip hop! This intensive will be lots of fun, be sure to make it out!

*The intensive will be held on Saturday, August 6th, but please note our ballet classes have been moved to Thursday, August 11th.

Early Registration begins this week at the studio! Registration now for all fall classes and receive 15% off your 1st month's tuition (not including company and competitive). Registration packages are available at the studio or through email. Office hours for this coming week will be:

Canterbury Folk Festival

Ingersoll's Canterbury Folk Festival is this Friday-Sunday (July 8, 9, 10)! Come out and see our dancers perform on the dance stage on Thames St on Saturday. Shows are at 9:30am and 12:30pm. Auditions for No Silence Hear!

"No Silence Hear! is an award winning one act "rock-ballet". The story is told through music and dance, in the traditional ballet style, with traditional and modern music and dance stylings. Rehearsals will be held in Woodstock, venue to be confirmed, with rehearsals being 3 times a week for 2 hours, times TBA. We will start rehearsals the first week of July. We will be performing in the Cobblestone Theatre Festival, venue to TBA from August 10 to 21 in Paris, Ontario."

Auditions are being held in Woodstock next week and they are looking for teen/mature dancers, especially those with experience in ballet/pointe!

It's already that time of year!

DDC's fall class information is now available at the studio. This includes our handbook, registration forms and rough schedule.

We are currently in the studio Tuesdays from 3:30-8:30, Thursdays from 3:00-9:00 or by appointment. Please feel free to stop in and pick up your information package. Or, packages can be emailed. Our email address is diamond.dancec@gmail.com.

FRESH Dance Intensive

It's not too often we have great classes and workshops offered close to home. FRESH Dance Intensive will be nearby this summer, and promises some great classes and teachers. It will be in Stratford the week of August 2nd-5th. This is a great way for dancers to keep in shape throughout the summer and experience new choreography and teachers!
